Georges Seferis : Reniement * Άρνηση
Georges Seferis (13 mars 1900- 20 septembre 1971) est l'un des plus grands poètes de la Grèce contemporaine (il a notamment reçu le Prix Nobel de littérature en 1963).
Ce poème extrait du recueil Strophes — Στροφή (1931) a été mis en musique par Mikis Théodorakis. Lors des funérailles de Georges Seferis en 1971, la foule le chanta.
George Seferis (1900-1971) is one of the greatest poet of contemporary litterature in Greece (he received the Nobel Prize in 1963).
This poem is extracted from Strophes — Στροφή (1931) and has been set to music by Mikis Theodorakis. The crowd was singing this song the day of Seferis' funeral.

Reniement
Sur la plage secrète comme blanche colombe nous mourions de soif à midi mais l'eau était saumâtre.
Sur le sable d'or nous avons écrit son nom mais la brise marine a soufflé et les mots furent effacés
Avec quel élan, quel cœur quel désir et ferveur nous vécûmes notre vie : une erreur! Ainsi nous avons changé notre vie! |
Άρνηση ("Arnisi")
Στο περιγιάλι το κρυφό κι άσπρο σαν περιστέρι διψάσαμε το μεσημέρι μα το νερό γλυφό.
Πάνω στην άμμο την ξανθή γράψαμε τ' όνομά της Ωραία που φύσηξε ο μπάτης και σβήστηκε η γραφή .
Με τι καρδιά, με τι πνοή, τι πόθους και τι πάθος πήραμε τη ζωή μας· λάθος! κι αλλάξαμε ζωή. |
Denial
On the secret seashore white like a pigeon we thirsted at noon; but the water was brackish.
On the golden sand we wrote her name; but the sea-breeze blew and the writing vanished.
With what spirit, what heart, what desire and passion we lived our life: a mistake! So we changed our life. |
