First Love (Antinoüs)
First, I read mythology when I was a child.
The stories take you easily in another world, and, year after year sound very familiar to you.
Then, my father took me to Greece. I already knew some places, I knew the stories about some of them...
... and dream became true : I faced the real stage, the scenery of all these stories.
I went to Delphi, and I had there my first Stendhal's syndrome*.
The first time I fell in love with an art work was there, I was about 12. I was walking along the entrance of the museum, loving all pieces, and suddenly, I just stared...
Falling in love with him, muted :I looked at this cold and tender expression of his face, the curls of his hair. He just looked at me merely leaning his head.He probably whispered something because I also felt tragic. Indeed, Antinous was the favorite boyfriend of the Roman Emperor Hadrien. He mysteriously killed himself. He drowned into the Nile.
When I came back for the first time in Delphi, in 2005, I just came slowly, tensed, into this room of the Delphi's museum where he was.
And I saw him again, no wrinkle on his face, still looking at me with kindness... after all these years, after a neglect of years, still here without any bitterness against me !
... and I just cried silently, trying to hold my tears and hide it, uneasily walking around him and amongst the visitors.* Stendhal's syndrome: psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to art.How Greece caught me (part 1)Following posts :
